three jobs & no time

i have never taken such a blogging hiatus before...

in fact, i have been spending a lot of time thinking about what is important to me -

how to fit in everything

i have always had time for blogging & i have enjoyed it on my to-do list

but with three jobs

& a fundraiser coming up 

i cannot seem to find the time

i wanted to share this video with you

The goal of the Walk for Life is to raise funds for the ministry of Life Network, educate community members about Life Network and its outreaches and make a strong life-affirming statement to our community.

Life Network depends on the funds raised at the Walk to continue offering free services to the community and ministering to over 14,000 babies, women, men, families and students that God will send our way this year. Through its four outreaches (Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center, LifeSteps, Education for a Lifetime and Bridges of Hope) Life Network offers many free services including:

- Pregnancy tests
- Pregnancy options counseling
- Ultrasounds
- Baby clothing and furnishings
- Parenting education
- Childbirth and infant care classes
- Emergency baby supplies
- Maternity clothing
- Post-abortion recovery groups
- Education on sexual integrity and risk-avoidance

 "Hey! I’m Allyson, and I blog over at Cupcakes and Candy Canes.  Before you get distracted wondering about the strange-ish name…it’s all right here.  First, I want to give a huge thank you to Beth for asking me to be a part of her series (after reading one my personal favorite posts).  I love the idea of this, and I am so excited to be here!

     Starting my blog was a total shot in the dark.  To be honest…it had a lot to do with my sister.  She reads a ton of blogs, and has been super encouraging about my blog.  Like most people my age, I had have a MySpace and a Facebook, but they really are not my favorite way of expressing myself.  As I have been blogging, I have come to love the community.  I write for myself – to keep track of how my life is going, to have something to look back on, and because of the incredible accountability. 

     I started my blog thinking it would be all about learning to be crafty (which is definitely still a goal), but the more I write, the more I find that I want to share life with all of you.  Thankfully, I have been so blessed not to have had any major crises, but knowing that I can lean on all of you sweet ladies who I’ve never actually met is so inspiring to me.  I enjoy the kind words about my little crafties, and I certainly love reading and writing about weddings, but what I love most is knowing that the ladies who take time to read my blog really care. 

     Even while I was writing this post, I was able to understand even more why it is I do this.  I thought it was all for me and my alleged craftiness, but now (more than ever) I am sure that it is for the fellowship, accountability, and community.  I have learned so much through blogging, and I am so excited to continue to grow with all of you."

for the last couple of weeks i haven't wanted to blog

i guess because i didn't have the time 

(i work full time)

& when i did have the time, i did other things.

I KNOW I WANT TO FOCUSS ON MY STRENGTHS

and make time for things i am passionate about

i wonder... 

is blogging something i want to continue to invest in?

what about my etsy?

or my writing... i have always wanted to publish something.

or people, do i spend enough time investing in peoples lives?

or reading & growing my knowledge?

DO I MAKE GOOD USE OF MY TIME?

& does anything i do really matter?

i want to do things that matter!

i want to make a difference

i don't what to spend time & energy on things that have no eternal value..

Lord, show me your ways.

why i blog: nicole

hi friends.
today is an exciting day because nicole is my guest blogger!
she inspired me to start this series - to think about why i take time the time to blog.

i blog because it is my digital journal

i have no real theme - i simply just blog my life.

(sometimes i wonder why i have followers!)

but without further ado, i give you my sweet, inspirational friend!

It's really so nice to meetchya!  I guess now is the time and place where I'm suppose to tell all you lovelies why I blog.   So grab your coffee and cookies and let's go!

I wish I could say I daily blog all my Pinterest-worthy outfit posts, showcasing my latest $2 thrifted finds OR posts with pristine photos of recipes that would make the Pioneer Woman swoon {check out the  way the sun shines through this stream of sugar running into a gorgeous baby blue bowl} OR posts full of witty comments and funny tales that leave you aching for me to post tomorrow.

But nope.  As much as I would love for that to be me, it's not.  And you know what, it's ok.  Can I just say that blogging is literally changing my life?!  When I posted those first words not long after Husband and I returned from our honeymoon last summer, I had no idea the journey of personal growth that would begin.

While I was traveling through Beijing last fall, I finally took time to write down the goals for my blog.  {You can read that post here}  I'm excited to say that it has become an aspect of many of those things, but you wanna know the crazy thing?!

Blogging has turned me back into the dreamer I once used to be.  I feel like life has a way of knocking the wind out of you.  Difficulties come.  Obstacles get in the way.  Life happens.  And suddenly before you can eat a box of Peeps {GASP.  I'm a recovering addict since Easter, so bear with me here} you are all grown up and settled into life.  Plain old status quo life.  Those dreams from days gone by suddenly seem to have no life left in them.  And for some reason, we all seem to be ok with that.

This past year, God has used my blog to change me.  To open my eyes back up to those dreams.  He has allowed me to meet other blogging women who inspire me.  To show me that life can be more than survival.  That I was made for a purpose.  I have a special place to fill.  And that is truly one of life's greatest adventures.

Soooo, if you were to happen to pop over to my blog on any given day -- which by golly I hope you do! -- you will find little outpourings of my heart.  Sometimes this is through my love for Husband, sometimes through the dreams I'm pursuing, and sometimes it's just the honesty of real life.   Because life is truly too short to life aimlessly, as Mary Oliver so poignantly says

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your 

one wild and precious life?! "

i hope your weekend was restful,

mine was pretty crazy - i carted an 11-month-old with me most of the weekend (but i am not complaining!)

"Hey Ya'll... 

I'm jessica from feistyfeathers! I am very excited to be apart of beth's "why I blog." (She's an absolute Peach!) I think its such a great question, and its allowed me to reflect on the purpose of my blog and to be grateful that there is a little space for me on the internet to share "my story."

Since I was a freshman back in 2001 I've always had a blog. I've stopped a couple years back for a good while because i realized the things i would blog about weren't for a purpose, but only to "brag" about the awful relationship i was currently in. Unfortunately the blogs stopped, but the awful relationships continued. 

When i found out i was pregnant i went through an awful waffles break up. There were words that were slanged back and forth to and from a man that just completely stomped me out of his life without a second look. This completely shook me to my core.  I wanted to disappear, and living in a small town didn't help either. 

Simply, this blog was going to be my blog where I was going to show how I kept busy during my pregnancy doing DIY projects. I thought this would help me get away from all the small town drama, and I'd be keeping my hands and mind busy. I'm glad I did because my blog has taken on a whole different meaning. 

I want to show other girls out there that we don't have to adhere to a typical family unit. There are tons of women out there that are single mothers, and I didn't want to be the one that would point to myself and ask God, "Why Me?!" I've realized that no one has to go back to the person that tears them down, and doesn't see the good that is inside of you. 

Through blogging and this vast change in my life, I have actually drawn closer to God. I want others to know that you can put your weakness in God's hands to give you strength. The Lord doesn't want to shine through you where you are already strong, but where you are weak! This has been one of weakest parts in my life, but he has made me my absolute STRONGEST!!! and I want to share THAT with the world!!"
